Mindful Trader Commentary For September 17, 2026

Hey Guys,

The market indeed had a volatile reaction to the interest rate announcement yesterday.  It whipped downward yesterday, then back upward overnight.  The end result is that the S&P 500 is back where it was to start the week:  around 7,610.

I had two stock positions close since my last email.  I had my first losing trade of the week when RIO hit its stop loss.  But I also had a winning trade in MRNA, which reached its profit target this morning.

I took on one new trade today.  I bought another helping of COP shares in the stocks account.  I now have two stock positions for COP.  This most recent position qualified for my double down strategy.  Keep in mind that even though there are two trades for the same ticker, they are completely independent of each other.  Each has its own separate exit criteria.  So although they have the same ticker, to me they are unrelated in terms of how I manage each one.

I have two option positions that will reach their time limits tomorrow:  Mastercard and Visa.  I'll manually close those 30 minutes after the opening bell tomorrow unless they reach their profit targets first.

If you have any questions, just reply directly to this email.

Eric
