Mindful Trader Commentary For September 17, 2021

Hi Guys,

The market is down again this morning and clearly in a volatile state.

That said, all my stock positions currently are either up or at breakeven at the time I'm writing this. That's pretty awesome and might not be typical for this type of market condition.

That said, my futures positions are down. I cut one loose this morning since it reached its time limit, but the other two are down big as of the time I'm writing this. The futures trades this week were really tough on my account because I had so much risk exposure. If they had gone the other way, it would have been a great payday. But they did not, and this is part of the challenge of trading.

One other thing worth appreciating: with that futures trade I closed out today, it had come within one single point of reaching its stoploss, and then it reversed course. I still took a loss on the trade, but my loss was cut in half due to that stroke of luck.

I closed my SE stock position this morning because it hit the time limit. It had a solid profit. Also my JD options from my extra options account reached their profit target this morning. Yesterday near the end of the trading day, I closed out all my expiring options positions, with the exception of ones where I couldn't find a buyer for my spread. For those, I just leave a sell order in place until expiration, but if it doesn't fill, then the options will expire worthless.

I bought KEYS and CDNS stock shares this morning. There haven't been any new options trades yet. There were a couple where the chart setup was right, but the option itself was too expensive to meet my Max Premium criteria.

If you have any questions or feedback, I'd love to hear from you.
