I only had two new trades today: an MES futures trade I took (along with its SPXL equivalent) in the main account and a purchase of MTTR stock in the low-priced account. . There just aren't a lot of other stocks right now that are setting up for my core trading strategy. There were only a handful on the watch list for today. If the market pulls back a lot today, it might set up more trades.
Speaking of that futures trade, you'll notice that the profit target to stoploss ratio is not even. With my stock trades that ratio is always about even, but with futures trades that's not always the case. With this trade in particular (which is strategy MT 95 from this page for those interested), the profit target is half the normal distance away (relatively close) and the stoploss is twice the normal distance away (relatively far). This is by design and is meant to be a high odds play. We'll see if it pans out.
ETSY hit its stoploss today. That trade was never happy from the start. Even with the rebound day yesterday that the market had, that stock didn't want to move. I have double down options trades for ETSY in addition to my original options trade for it, so that one ticker has really dragged me down.
That said, as far as my closed positions go, this has actually been a decent week in a lot of ways. My futures trades (which are weighted more heavily than my stock trades) performed poorly overall this week, but in my main account my closed stock trades for the week made some profit. And my extra options account is up 6% this week when measuring my realized balance right now versus where it was at this time last week. That's pretty awesome considering how turbulent the market has been this week.
I have one options position that reached its time limit today. It's that SPY option that has an expiration date of this coming Monday. With my options trades, when they reach their expiration I like to close them near the end of normal trading hours. So I'll be closing that one near 1pm Pacific Time today when the stock market closes.
